What makes skinny Shaker different?

A traditional Shaker door has a more substantial border. A skinny Shaker keeps the framed appearance while allowing the centre panel to occupy more of the front. It can work well when you like the detail of a Shaker kitchen but want a less pronounced outline across a long run of units.

Compare the same dimensions in the live preview: a narrow cupboard and a wide drawer can give the same profile quite different proportions. Handle size and position also affect the finished appearance. Compare this style with traditional Shaker and flat slab fronts before ordering.

Plan doors and drawer fronts together

Start with a labelled list of every front: its height, width, quantity and hinge position. Do not assume that fronts which look similar are exactly the same size. For shallow drawers, the builder checks that a framed profile leaves room for the centre panel; a slab front may be more suitable.

Unfinished or primed

Unfinished fronts let you arrange the preparation and finish yourself. The primed option gives you a base for the final paint system; it is not a fully painted door. Choose a compatible finish and follow its manufacturer's preparation and application instructions.

Check the fit before you order

Measure the existing doors rather than the cabinet openings. Check hinge-cup centres and view the hinge side from the rear, as shown in our measuring guide. Confirm unusual drilling patterns and extra hinges with us first.
